This was our eleventh year of piling into a van and driving 250 miles up to Crypticon Seattle, and it was as full of horror, bbq, laughs and goofiness as it ever was. Ready to hit the road from Rob’s. Stopped by Cork’s donuts on the way out of town. Delicious! COCONUT DONUT!!! You know what a red warning sign means? Do NOT mess around with the Burgerville dumpster. And now we’ve got Mike. Let’s go! Mac and cheese with bbq pulled pork at Warthog BBQ. Heaven! Chillin’ with the gang in the bar. Yikes! Enjoying our fresh, warm Double Tree cookies. Cosplay everywhere! I told you. It was everywhere! See? Everywhere! Tradition! BBQ at Famous Dave’s. They put three big tables together for our group. All smiles. And why not? We’re here for BBQ! WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?! Am I seeing double? Yes, I’m seeing double Carries covered in blood! Awesome-looking Chucky and Medusa. These clowns are not too scary. Party time! Burger. Pretty good. Dee Wallace is a funny and warm woman who tells great stories!!! World premiere, man!!! The doll is ready for her close-up. John loves tacos! Cast Q&A after the Dark Zone Thirteen screening. Cast Q&A after the Dark Zone Thirteen screening. Two Joes and a Little Lady. Dale doesn’t seem to be too scared of the doll. Tonjia seems scared of the doll. Watch out for that haunted doll! Late night stop at Dick’s for burgers. Dig the kooky chef! John is ready for breakfast! TIME FOR PANCAKES! What? Wow. A pint of this stuff goes for close to $20. Comedian Jonah Ray, fresh off of being the new host for Mystery Science Theater 3000, had some crazy Hollywood stories. Little Jasons. Little Predator was all tuckered out. The men who play monsters panel was fun. This is a stair railing. It is also named Alan. It’s an inside joke. Holy cow this raptor outfit was amazing!!! Tonjia and Chris with Jonah Ray in his MST3K outfit! The X-Files panel was much goofier than I expected. I could listen to Harry Manfredini tell stories about making the scores for Friday the 13th movies for hours! He was great! Holy cow this was even more disturbing in person! I picked up a couple of old Starlog magazines from this booth. Picked up Joe Begos’ fun Scanners homage “The Minds’s Eye” on DVD as well as “Hawk the Slayer,” which I watched a million times on Showtime back in the day. Also the latest issue of Strange Aeons Magazine. Wonderful seeing con-mom Mickie again. I thought this pic in the lobby was supposed to be “look confused.” On the way out of town, someone wanted coffee, so we pulled over to this little coffee stand. Sadly, this poor barista makes so little money, she can’t afford clothes! We stopped for pizza somewhere on the way home. Look! Mike is art! Looking forward to next year!!! |
