Ready to hit the road! Waiting, waiting, waiting for our lunch at Hooters. The time on Roxxy's camera is off, but it felt like we'd been waiting for a couple of years! Lunch FINALLY arrived! I got John's pickles! I love pickles. No one goes to Hooters for the stellar service. Roxxy said it was too bad she didn't see this until after we were done eating. Hey! A pool! Point at something!!! My son was popping out of the darkness doing his Gollum impression. "My precious!" After we checked into the hotel, we hit Famous Dave's for an early dinner Georgia chopped pork, cole slaw and grilled pineapple. Fantastic! Mysterious magnetic force between us. Our waiter Famous Alan's bbq sauce artwork. The "wilbur's revenge" sauce was pretty hot! Rob LOVED the wilbur's revenge sauce! Banana Pudding!!! That cooled off the wilbur's revenge sauce! Holy cow - this awesome guy was standing there right as I walked into the vendor room. I have always wanted to make some sort of monster fishman movie. As I was later told, I walked over to this and stared at it every time I went into the vendor room throughout the weekend. 4 heads are better than 2! Even the decorations were cool! Cool witch prop in the vendor room. Saturday morning Ham and Cheese Omelette at IHOP. OJ Makes Your Day! Justin Giallo displaying the swell Freddy shirt I bought for my kid! Ready for the zombie invasion! Sweet zombie in a box! Roxxy gets into the spirit of Crypticon! Despite this photo, Derek Mears was extremely nice, grateful and funny! Joe Bob Briggs! He's a great storyteller. I used to watch him all the time on TNT's MONSTERVISION! Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira Mistress of the Dark receives her Crypt-Icon award from sculpter William J. Bivens. Look at his awesome t-shirt! Our party of 23 was too big for Claim Jumper, so we went back to Famous Dave's! Bryn Kristi and her boyfriend Ian joined us for dinner Old high school buddies enjoying some fine BBQ! Adam Paris who plays the Blood Creek Woodsman himself, also joined us for dinner. Mmmmmmm... These crazy folks not only put hooks in their backs and ran a rope between them, but then had someone sit on it! Ouch! This guy stuck needles into this hands for a Wolverine impression. We were thrilled that our movie, BLOOD CREEK WOODSMAN was having it's WORLD PREMIERE at this year's Crypticon. It was only fitting since it was Crypticon 2009 that inspired it - read all about it here! Look - there's our poster! Here is the World Premiere promo! We screened a trailer of my next movie DRIFTER before the movie. We also screened a trailer of a movie I made with my buddy John Bowker just before we made Blood Creek Woodsman - it was called EVIL RISING. Cast at the Blood Creek Woodsman World Premiere! Blysster Press' own Charity Becker shows off her book! Lots of Canada Dry was consumed this weekend. Thanks, Brent! This was the best ever. There were about 15 of us in the room for "MONSTERMAN" Cleve Hall's panel. He walked in with his Crypticon handler and flopped down in the second row of chairs from the back - right across from us - and told the helper that he needed coffee. Instead of going up to the table and microphones, Cleve just launched into an informal conversation with us, spinning stories and his adventures in the monster-making biz. Soon, the helper returned with coffee and a donut and Cleve continued just chatting about his life and work and had us all fascinated. It was wonderful. He was fun, humble and thankful. You know, this picture turned out pretty weird, but I kind of dig it. Rob and Cleve. Hmmm....they look kind of similar. I wonder what it would look like if they switched noses and mouths? Well, I guess they would look like that! My son bought this steampunk pistol Rob with some hot chicks! Some of the Rocky Horror performers. Poster raffle drawing in the vendor room. Rob with zombie Marilyn! Time for a little mood music... Sweet masks for sale! Holy cow! Look at this kickass werewolf costume! It has wings! And the eyes lit up red. Supercool! The fish guy went on sale Sunday afternoon...so I bought it! Can't wait to put it into a movie! Look out behind you, Dale! Con Mom Mickie wished us safe travels before we headed out. Good times! We ended up at Claim Jumper since our party was only 9 now. This lemon cake was almost as big as my head! My son wrapped up the weekend with a brownie. Good call. I came home with these two awesome guys - a magnet sculpted by William Bivens and a Metaluna Mutant from "This Island Earth!" Can't wait until next year!!! Thanks to Dale, Rob, Connor, Roxxy and William for contributing photos this year! |
