My buddies and I headed up to Seattle again this year for the Crypticon horror convention!

crypticon seattle 2011

I got some donuts. John is happy.

crypticon seattle 2011

Our buddy Dale joined us on this year's trip. We're SO HAPPY!

crypticon seattle 2011

Cocoa krispies on a chocolate donut? Delicious. Gummi bears on a donut? Bad idea.

crypticon seattle 2011

We picked up Mike in Portland and we were on our way! I snapped this snazzy shot from the very back of the van in the convex mirror.

crypticon seattle 2011

Before we checked into the hotel, we stopped for lunch at Famous Dave's BBQ.

crypticon seattle 2011

Well hey there!

crypticon seattle 2011

Our waiter, Famous Alan, drew this Corona Beer ad with different types of BBQ sauce!

crypticon seattle 2011

Smoked pork, corn, cornbread, cole slaw and potato salad. It was HEAVENLY!!!!

crypticon seattle 2011

If you look carefully, you will see that Mike got broccoli. What a health nut!

crypticon seattle 2011

We checked in and headed to the convention rooms. I went into the vendor/guest room and over to Linnea Quigley's table. She looked awful!

crypticon seattle 2011

Wait a minute! Here's the REAL Scream Queen Linnea Quigley!

crypticon seattle 2011

I didn't get any great shots of the "Friday the 13th Part 6" panel, but the big guy in the blue shirt is CJ Graham who played Jason... and he was HUGE!

crypticon seattle 2011

Marcel Banks, from the special effects make-up reality TV show Face-Off puts a face on someone. He later mentioned The Garbage Pail Kids movie, so this may have been his take on Messy Tessie.

crypticon seattle 2011

Next, we went to see the screening of "Return of the Living Dead" with live commentary by actress Jewel Shepherd. Suddenly, a bunch of zombies burst in!

crypticon seattle 2011

So Jewel did what everyone else was doing - she took some pictures!

crypticon seattle 2011

It's a zombie mob! After the mob left, they started the movie again, but we really couldn't hear Jewel too well and she wasn't saying too much so we left.

crypticon seattle 2011

Universal Monsters body painted on! Wow!

crypticon seattle 2011

Shannon Lark was the only woman to show up for the Women in Horror panel! I guess they should've called it the Woman in Horror panel.

crypticon seattle 2011

John is worried about the giant bat hanging out at the check-in table.

crypticon seattle 2011

A very pregnant woman decided to get some body painting done in the make-up area.

crypticon seattle 2011

I think John may have found his next wife...

crypticon seattle 2011

Cool poster!

crypticon seattle 2011

These zombies had their picture taken A LOT. A zombie chick carrying a severed penis? Photo op!

crypticon seattle 2011

Poster for the afterparty. We stopped by...

crypticon seattle 2011

Folks were dancing the night away at the after party.

crypticon seattle 2011

Wow.

crypticon seattle 2011

Beauty and the beast!

crypticon seattle 2011

Look! A giant skull!

crypticon seattle 2011

We went to Denny's for a late late night snack and I had this abomination: the The Grand Slamburger. Basically a bacon cheeseburger with hash browns and an egg. It was good, but quite a mouthful.

crypticon seattle 2011

The next day, we went to the "Return of the Living Dead" panel, but only Linnea showed up! Here Sean The Butcher Smithson asks some probing questions.

crypticon seattle 2011

It's hot dog girl in an elevator!

crypticon seattle 2011

That is one scary clown!

crypticon seattle 2011

Make-Up Contest.

crypticon seattle 2011

More make-up contest.

crypticon seattle 2011

Even more make-up contest.

crypticon seattle 2011

Still more make-up contest

crypticon seattle 2011

Sorry for the blurry photo. Actress PJ Soles discusses how she got into acting and her many experiences including making Halloween, Carrie, Stripes, and Rock And Roll High School.

crypticon seattle 2011

Bob Olin with Krista, Beth and Alicia.

crypticon seattle 2011

Back in the room, Rob farted. I had to take immediate action!

crypticon seattle 2011

John said something and I started laughing hysterically, which got John laughing hysterically!

crypticon seattle 2011

Rob started channeling Abe Lincoln.

crypticon seattle 2011

And that made John REALLY laugh hysterically! Good times.

crypticon seattle 2011

If you haven't seen her in the movie Stripes, you wouldn't understand that Rob is giving actress P.J. Soles the "Aunt Jemima treatment."

crypticon seattle 2011

Marcel Banks talking about what it was really like being in the special effects make-up reality show Face-Off. One time, someone had explosive diarrhea while still wearing their wireless microphone!

crypticon seattle 2011

Look at the hot chick John met at the liquor store!

crypticon seattle 2011

At the screening of "15," Mike and John sat on the other side of the room. This is them saying, "Hi over there!"

crypticon seattle 2011

Stylin' hearses!

crypticon seattle 2011

So this was the "Linnea Quigley Horror Workout Holocaust" panel. We later found out it had been cancelled but no one bothered to post a sign. After we waited around for about 15 minutes, John and I went to the "Ultra-Low-Budget Horror Films" panel and it was great!

crypticon seattle 2011

This fine vendor was selling all kinds of creepy doodads - dig those glasses!

crypticon seattle 2011

I know why John is happy. Do you? I thought you did.

crypticon seattle 2011

The ladies of Spaceship Terror pose with some snazzy gun props.

crypticon seattle 2011

Holy moley this was such an awesome monster bust!!!

crypticon seattle 2011

This nice lady was at the Crypticon merchandise table and wanted to show off...the make-up contest award, sculpted by William Bivens.

crypticon seattle 2011

Writer Crystal Connor strikes a pose and pulls the switch for the electric chair!

crypticon seattle 2011

Actress/model Ronda Olshefski and a little dog with devil horns!

crypticon seattle 2011

Rob's got guts!

crypticon seattle 2011

Today, hot dog girl was wearing a monster bikini with eyeballs on it!

crypticon seattle 2011

Kelly Jayne La Patiperra, Alex Vincent, Aaron Smolinski and Elissa Dowling on the Acting in Horror Movies panel.

crypticon seattle 2011

This old vampire looks more like a butler now and probably moves really slowly, hence Rob's unworried expression.

crypticon seattle 2011

Real-life Seattle superhero Phoenix Jones and his crew showed up. It was a lively Q and A session!

crypticon seattle 2011

Phoenix Jones shows off his body armor.

crypticon seattle 2011

Phoenix Jones and Purple Reign demonstrate defensive moves to use if you are attacked.

crypticon seattle 2011

Phoenix Jones is having some sort of documentary made about him so he was surrounded by his own camera crew!

crypticon seattle 2011

Don't mess with Phoenix Jones!

crypticon seattle 2011

This guy was scary! And he already had his hair shaved that way!

crypticon seattle 2011

An amazing Alien painting!

crypticon seattle 2011

So the zombies just lay there, dead on the floor...

crypticon seattle 2011

But then they got up...

crypticon seattle 2011

And started to dance!

crypticon seattle 2011

It was the Seattle Thriller Dancers!

crypticon seattle 2011

'Cause this is Thriller!

crypticon seattle 2011

It was quite an impressive show!

crypticon seattle 2011

Wall to wall zombies!

crypticon seattle 2011

Despite the wall to wall zombies, Mike and John didn't seem to be worried in the slightest.

crypticon seattle 2011

This zombie mailman had a stack of letters stabbed to his chest!

crypticon seattle 2011

Thriller zombies!!!

crypticon seattle 2011

As things were winding down, we attended the last panel of the con. Thom Carnell, Crystal Connors, Timothy W. Long and Lorelei Shannon on the "Getting Published" panel. What we learned was that there are a zillion ways to get published and not everyone can agree on the best way to do it.

crypticon seattle 2011

We decided we would go to Famous Dave's again for dinner before heading home. This time, I had the brisket. Soooooooo good!

crypticon seattle 2011

To wrap up our adventure, I asked if I could take a photo
of our waitress "Famous Rebecca" with John.
She not only agreed, but told him to pull out his chair and she sat on his lap!
That's the closest we've come to helping John get lucky yet!

Oh well, there is always next year!
