My buddies and I headed up to Seattle again this year for the Crypticon horror convention!
I got some donuts. John is happy. |
Our buddy Dale joined us on this year's trip. We're SO HAPPY! |
Cocoa krispies on a chocolate donut? Delicious. Gummi bears on a donut? Bad idea. |
We picked up Mike in Portland and we were on our way! I snapped this snazzy shot from the very back of the van in the convex mirror. |
Before we checked into the hotel, we stopped for lunch at Famous Dave's BBQ. |
Well hey there! |
Our waiter, Famous Alan, drew this Corona Beer ad with different types of BBQ sauce! |
Smoked pork, corn, cornbread, cole slaw and potato salad. It was HEAVENLY!!!! |
If you look carefully, you will see that Mike got broccoli. What a health nut! |
We checked in and headed to the convention rooms. I went into the vendor/guest room and over to Linnea Quigley's table. She looked awful! |
Wait a minute! Here's the REAL Scream Queen Linnea Quigley! |
I didn't get any great shots of the "Friday the 13th Part 6" panel, but the big guy in the blue shirt is CJ Graham who played Jason... and he was HUGE! |
Marcel Banks, from the special effects make-up reality TV show Face-Off puts a face on someone. He later mentioned The Garbage Pail Kids movie, so this may have been his take on Messy Tessie. |
Next, we went to see the screening of "Return of the Living Dead" with live commentary by actress Jewel Shepherd. Suddenly, a bunch of zombies burst in! |
So Jewel did what everyone else was doing - she took some pictures! |
It's a zombie mob! After the mob left, they started the movie again, but we really couldn't hear Jewel too well and she wasn't saying too much so we left. |
Universal Monsters body painted on! Wow! |
Shannon Lark was the only woman to show up for the Women in Horror panel! I guess they should've called it the Woman in Horror panel. |
John is worried about the giant bat hanging out at the check-in table. |
A very pregnant woman decided to get some body painting done in the make-up area. |
I think John may have found his next wife... |
Cool poster! |
These zombies had their picture taken A LOT. A zombie chick carrying a severed penis? Photo op! |
Poster for the afterparty. We stopped by... |
Folks were dancing the night away at the after party. |
Wow. |
Beauty and the beast! |
Look! A giant skull! |
We went to Denny's for a late late night snack and I had this abomination: the The Grand Slamburger. Basically a bacon cheeseburger with hash browns and an egg. It was good, but quite a mouthful. |
The next day, we went to the "Return of the Living Dead" panel, but only Linnea showed up! Here Sean The Butcher Smithson asks some probing questions. |
It's hot dog girl in an elevator! |
That is one scary clown! |
Make-Up Contest. |
More make-up contest. |
Even more make-up contest. |
Still more make-up contest |
Sorry for the blurry photo. Actress PJ Soles discusses how she got into acting and her many experiences including making Halloween, Carrie, Stripes, and Rock And Roll High School. |
Bob Olin with Krista, Beth and Alicia. |
Back in the room, Rob farted. I had to take immediate action! |
John said something and I started laughing hysterically, which got John laughing hysterically! |
Rob started channeling Abe Lincoln. |
And that made John REALLY laugh hysterically! Good times. |
If you haven't seen her in the movie Stripes, you wouldn't understand that Rob is giving actress P.J. Soles the "Aunt Jemima treatment." |
Marcel Banks talking about what it was really like being in the special effects make-up reality show Face-Off. One time, someone had explosive diarrhea while still wearing their wireless microphone! |
Look at the hot chick John met at the liquor store! |
At the screening of "15," Mike and John sat on the other side of the room. This is them saying, "Hi over there!" |
Stylin' hearses! |
So this was the "Linnea Quigley Horror Workout Holocaust" panel. We later found out it had been cancelled but no one bothered to post a sign. After we waited around for about 15 minutes, John and I went to the "Ultra-Low-Budget Horror Films" panel and it was great! |
This fine vendor was selling all kinds of creepy doodads - dig those glasses! |
I know why John is happy. Do you? I thought you did. |
The ladies of Spaceship Terror pose with some snazzy gun props. |
Holy moley this was such an awesome monster bust!!! |
This nice lady was at the Crypticon merchandise table and wanted to show off...the make-up contest award, sculpted by William Bivens. |
Writer Crystal Connor strikes a pose and pulls the switch for the electric chair! |
Actress/model Ronda Olshefski and a little dog with devil horns! |
Rob's got guts! |
Today, hot dog girl was wearing a monster bikini with eyeballs on it! |
Kelly Jayne La Patiperra, Alex Vincent, Aaron Smolinski and Elissa Dowling on the Acting in Horror Movies panel. |
This old vampire looks more like a butler now and probably moves really slowly, hence Rob's unworried expression. |
Real-life Seattle superhero Phoenix Jones and his crew showed up. It was a lively Q and A session! |
Phoenix Jones shows off his body armor. |
Phoenix Jones and Purple Reign demonstrate defensive moves to use if you are attacked. |
Phoenix Jones is having some sort of documentary made about him so he was surrounded by his own camera crew! |
Don't mess with Phoenix Jones! |
This guy was scary! And he already had his hair shaved that way! |
An amazing Alien painting! |
So the zombies just lay there, dead on the floor... |
But then they got up... |
And started to dance! |
It was the Seattle Thriller Dancers! |
'Cause this is Thriller! |
It was quite an impressive show! |
Wall to wall zombies! |
Despite the wall to wall zombies, Mike and John didn't seem to be worried in the slightest. |
This zombie mailman had a stack of letters stabbed to his chest! |
Thriller zombies!!! |
As things were winding down, we attended the last panel of the con. Thom Carnell, Crystal Connors, Timothy W. Long and Lorelei Shannon on the "Getting Published" panel. What we learned was that there are a zillion ways to get published and not everyone can agree on the best way to do it. |
We decided we would go to Famous Dave's again for dinner before heading home. This time, I had the brisket. Soooooooo good! |
To wrap up our adventure, I asked if I could take a photo
of our waitress "Famous Rebecca" with John.
She not only agreed, but told him to pull out his chair and she sat on his lap!
That's the closest we've come to helping John get lucky yet!
Oh well, there is always next year!
